It went hand in hand with one of the best portable music devices to me at the time, the Walkman. I first received an AM\/FM radio music player. It was impressive to me. However, when I was gifted a Walkman with a cassette player, the experience brought about the beginning of my music love affair. I can’t remember my first cassette tape, but I do know that, around that time, Mariah Carey was constantly on replay. Over the years, I have purchased many cassettes. To this day, I still have several put-away. Music took me to a whole other place. It carried me away. During a not-so-happy childhood, it took me to a place of harmony, and it lifted me. It always got me through some things. I discovered how much joy music could put in the soul. To this day, music is my medicine. It can be the medicine that lifts me and the remedy that calms me to my core.
